# AstraMUX switches

The AstraMUX system is a hardware and software switch. It integrates wireless broadband access segments with Ethernet backhaul networks. It works with Evolution family equipment.

The system uses MINT (Mesh Interconnection Network Topology) software architecture. This lets a distributed wireless network act like a single virtual Ethernet switch. Each wireless device's Ethernet interface works as a port on that switch.

AstraMUX aggregates traffic from Evolution devices through a "pseudo-radio interface." This extends MINT wireless functionality to the Ethernet core network. It adds standard network features and improves:

* Channel performance and reliability.
* Traffic route flexibility.
* Network scalability.
* Wireless mobility with minimal subscriber reassociation time.

The switch optimizes fixed broadband access networks. It handles most computing tasks. This frees up resources in base station wireless sectors.

AstraMUX also provides broadband access for mobile assets. This includes maritime, rail, and road transport. It works across large areas covered by base station wireless sectors.

The switch software runs on AstraFleX. This is a real-time operating system, developed by Astra Wireless Technology LLC-FZ.
